How to combo

So, you're getting beat up, whether it's in your SMP or in bedwars. How do you kill the other people???? The easiest way is to combo them. Here's how.

1.8 PvP

In 1.8 combat, there is no recharge on your attacks. The only limit is the invincibility frames on your opponent. How do you kill them? Well, it's pretty simple.

To attack them, just spam click. That's it. You'll also want to move forward, because the knockback will move them backwards. Also, you will want to move left or right, because if you stay still they can hit you and get out of the combo.

Advanced Techniques

There are several things you can do to become a better comboer:

W-tapping is when you let go of W right before you hit someone and press it again, then you just repeat that over and over. This is because when you sprint, you deal less and less knockback. However, if you reset your sprint, then the knockback is at full. Then you can kill them easily.

You can aim for the right position, because of how your reach is calculated. Reach starts from your head. If you attack straight ahead, you can reach farther than if you look down. That's why if someone is comboing you and you are in the air, it's impossible for you to attack them. This is because to them, you are straight ahead, but your head is above them, so you have to look down to attack them, and so you can't reach them. Try to find the best way to attack your opponent so that they can't reach you.

Hacking is when you download mods to gain an advantage over your opponent. 99% of salty seven year olds have hacks, so it's totally justified for you to get them.

1.9+ PvP

In the 1.9 Combat Update, they added cooldowns to your weapons. This means if you attack too early, then you do less damage. Therefore, you will want to wait for your weapons to cooldown before attacking.

Swords have a short cooldown, and axes have a longer cooldown. However, axes do more damage. A wooden axe does as much damage as a diamond sword! The cooldown is twice as long, though. So how do you kill them?

You can't really combo, because of the cooldown. You can try to combo them, but it won't do much damage. The only reason you would really do this would be to knock them off a cliff or into some lava. This means during the cooldown, you will probably trade hits, unless you strafe.

Strafing is moving back and forth to dodge attacks. Just press A and D to dodge. You want to be sure to strafe in a way that they won't be able to predict where you are going, and so they miss. Once your weapon is all cooled down, attack them again and repeat.

To choose a good weapon, start with a sword. A sword can do more DPS than an axe, because it's cooldown is really fast. This is usually the best choice, but axes do a LOT more damage. So the best choice would probably be to:

-start the fight with an axe, so you don't have to wait for a cooldown

-switch to a sword once you swing the axe whether you miss or hit

So, a sword is better in most cases. But, when you are chasing someone, anytime you attack them they are boosted forward a bit. If you hit them too many times with a sword, they will get away, but with an axe, you can finish them off before you run too far.

Keep in mind that axes only do more damage in versions at and above 1.9. At 1.8 and before, choose a sword unless you have an axe that does more damage.
